Introduction
The one-time trigger runs an automation at a specific date and time — once, without repeating. Use it for planned maintenance windows, one-off remediation tasks, or anything you want to schedule ahead of time but not run on a recurring basis.
You can add multiple dates to a single one-time trigger, which lets you target a few specific dates without creating separate triggers for each.
One-time Trigger
When you add or edit a one-time trigger, the configuration panel has two main sections: Step configuration and Additional options.
Timezone and Date/Time
Select a Timezone from the dropdown. The timezone applies to all dates configured in this trigger.
Set the Date and Time for when the trigger should fire.
To target additional dates, click + Add another date and configure each one.
ℹ️ NOTE: Each date/time entry in a one-time trigger fires independently. Adding three dates means the automation runs three times — once on each date.
Condition
The Condition field determines which devices the trigger applies to when it fires. You must select a condition to save the trigger — choose All devices to run against your entire inventory, or pick a more specific condition type to narrow the scope.
For the full condition reference (types, operators, values, and AND logic), see Trigger Conditions.
Additional Options
Expand Additional options to access two settings:
Trigger name — An optional custom label for this trigger. When set, it replaces the default date summary in the trigger card on the pipeline view. Useful when an automation has multiple scheduled triggers and you want to tell them apart at a glance (e.g., "Client ABC – Patch Window").
Enabled — When toggled on, the trigger is active and devices can enter through it. Toggle it off to suspend this trigger without deleting it.
ℹ️ NOTE: Disabling a trigger prevents it from firing going forward. Any devices already mid-run through this trigger are unaffected.
FAQ
What happens if a device is offline when the one-time trigger fires? The device will wait until it comes back online, then run the automation. The run won't be skipped because the scheduled time has passed.
Can I use the same one-time trigger to run on multiple dates without duplicating it? Yes. Use + Add another date to add as many dates as you need within a single trigger. Each date fires as an independent run.
What's the difference between a condition on the trigger and having no condition? Without conditions, the trigger evaluates every device in your organization when it fires. Conditions narrow that down — only devices matching all conditions will be pulled into the run. See Trigger Conditions for details.
Can I disable a trigger temporarily without deleting it? Yes. Use the Enabled toggle in Additional options to suspend the trigger. The trigger stays configured and can be re-enabled at any time.
Who can add or edit triggers on an automation? Any technician with edit access to the automation. Permissions are managed at the group level — see Workspace → Permissions for details.
