Introduction
The Linked automations tab shows every automation that references this group — whether as a trigger target, a condition, or an action scope. It's a quick way to understand what's running against a group before you rename, restructure, or delete it.
Linked Automations
Navigate to a group's settings (Devices → [group name] → Linked automations).
The table shows:
Name — the automation's name. Click it to open the automation directly.
Group — the group the automation is associated with (may include a category label like "Patching").
Step type — the trigger or condition that links this automation to the group, including a schedule summary where applicable.
Use the Search automations field to filter by name. The dropdown filter next to it lets you narrow by step type.
Why This Matters
A group can't be deleted while it has linked automations. If you try to delete a group that's still referenced by an active automation, Level blocks the deletion and points you here.
⚠️ WARNING: Updating an automation to remove a group reference may change which devices that automation runs against. Review the automation's full scope before making changes.
Before deleting a group:
Open Linked automations and review what's listed.
Open each automation and update or remove the reference to this group.
Once all automations are unlinked, return and delete the group.
💡 TIP: This tab is also useful when restructuring groups. If you're splitting or renaming a group, check here first to see which automations will need to be updated to point to the new group.
FAQ
An automation is listed here, but I don't think it should apply to this group. What do I do? Open the automation by clicking its name and review the trigger, conditions, and actions. If the group reference is unintentional, update the automation to target the correct group.
Can I unlink automations from this view? No — this is a read-only list. To unlink an automation, open it in Automations and update or remove the group reference there.
