Command Palette

Search devices, groups, and pages, jump to a destination, and take actions without opening the item first.

Introduction

The command palette is a quick way to find something in Level and go there, or take an action, without clicking through the sidebar.

Open the command palette

You can open it in two ways:

  1. Click Search at the top of the left sidebar.

  2. Press Command+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows and Linux).

Search field at the top of the left sidebar

The keyboard shortcut works from most screens in Level, including while a text field is focused.

💡 TIP: If the sidebar is collapsed, click the search icon at the top of the nav. The tooltip reads Search.

Find something

When the palette opens with nothing typed, you'll see two lists:

  • Recently viewed: up to 5 devices, groups, automations, scripts, monitors, or monitor policies you've opened recently.

  • Jump to...: pages in Level, such as Devices, Automations, Scripts, and Settings.

Start typing to search. Matches can include:

  • Devices

  • Device groups, automation groups, and script groups

  • Automations and scripts

  • Monitors and monitor policies

  • Pages under Jump to...

Use the up and down arrow keys to move through the list, then press Enter to open the highlighted item. Press Esc to close the palette.

ℹ️ NOTE: Some Jump to... destinations only appear if you're an organization admin. Examples include Security, Team, and API keys.

Take action from the palette

For a device, automation, script, monitor, or monitor policy, you can run actions without opening the item first.

  1. Highlight the item in the list.

  2. Click Actions in the footer, or press Command+K / Ctrl+K again.

  3. Choose an action.

On a device, that includes actions like Remote control, Terminal, Run saved script, Restart, and Assign to group. Automations, scripts, monitors, and monitor policies each have their own action list.

Groups and pages don't have palette actions. If Actions isn't available, the tooltip reads No actions currently available.

If the Actions menu is open, press Esc once to close the menu, then Esc again to close the palette.
