Introduction
Delete device permanently removes a device from Level when an automation runs. The device record, its history, alerts, and associated data are deleted. Use this as the final step in an offboarding automation to clean up devices that have been decommissioned or are no longer reporting.
β οΈ WARNING: This action is permanent. Deleted devices cannot be recovered. All associated data β alerts, custom fields, automation history β is removed along with the device record. Use Conditions to make absolutely sure the right devices are targeted before deploying this in any automation.
Delete Device
This action has no configuration options. The deletion applies to the device the automation is running against.
π‘ TIP: Add a Conditions gate on this action β for example, require a specific tag or custom field value β as a second layer of protection beyond your trigger. This prevents accidental mass deletion if the automation fires against unintended devices.
Because there are no configuration options here, all targeting precision comes from your automation's trigger and Conditions. Set these carefully.
βΉοΈ NOTE: When a device is deleted, Level automatically uninstalls the agent from the device within 10 minutes. The device will not re-enroll. To manage it in Level again, the agent must be manually reinstalled.
Conditions
The Conditions section lets you restrict when this action runs based on device attributes or the outcome of a previous action.
See Action Conditions for the full reference on condition types, operators, and values.
Additional Options
Expand Additional options for action name, failure behavior, output variable assignment, retries, and the enabled toggle.
See Actions Overview for the full reference on additional options available on every action.
FAQ
Is deletion reversible? No. Once a device is deleted, the record and all its data are gone. Re-enrollment creates a fresh device record with no history.
Does deleting a device uninstall the Level agent? Yes. Level automatically uninstalls the agent from the device within 10 minutes of deletion. The device will not re-enroll on its own. To manage it in Level again, you'll need to reinstall the agent manually.
What data is deleted? The device record, all alert history, custom field values, applied tags, and automation history associated with that device.
Who can configure this action? Any technician with permission to create or edit automations. Given the destructive nature of this action, consider restricting automation editing permissions to senior technicians.
