Billing Settings

Manage your Level subscription, payment method, and invoice history via the Level Billing Portal.

Updated in the last hour

Introduction

Level's billing is handled through a dedicated billing portal, powered by Stripe. From there you can view your current subscription, add or update a payment method, review billing information, and download past invoices.

Every organization starts on a free account, which covers up to 10 devices at no cost. Once you exceed 10 devices, standard billing kicks in at $2 per device per month. If you drop back to 10 devices or under, your account returns to the free tier automatically.

The Free Device Limit

Level tracks your device usage directly in the sidebar. At the bottom of the left nav, you'll see a progress bar showing how many of your 10 free devices are in use, alongside an Upgrade now button.

Once you hit 10 devices, you can still run the Level agent installer on additional machines β€” but those devices won't appear in your account until you add a payment method. The install isn't wasted; the device will show up as soon as billing is configured.

πŸ’‘ TIP: The Upgrade now button in the sidebar is a shortcut directly to the billing portal. You don't have to navigate through Settings to get there.

⚠️ WARNING: Devices installed past the 10-device limit are held in a pending state. They won't be visible or manageable until a payment method is added.

Opening the Billing Portal

The Billing page in Level links out to a separate portal. It doesn't open inline.

  1. Navigate to Settings β†’ Billing in the Level web interface.

  2. The Level Billing Portal opens in a new tab at billing.level.io.

  3. To return to Level, click ← Return to Level in the left sidebar of the portal.

ℹ️ NOTE: The billing portal is powered by Stripe. You'll see Stripe branding at the bottom of the portal β€” this is expected.

Subscription Details

At the top of the portal, the Current Subscription section shows your plan, pricing model, and next billing date.

Level's pricing is $2 per device per month, billed once you exceed 10 devices. At 11 devices that's $22/month, at 12 it's $24/month, and so on. Drop back to 10 or under and billing stops β€” your account returns to the free tier automatically.

Canceling Your Subscription

To cancel, click Cancel subscription in the top-right of the Current Subscription section.

⚠️ WARNING: Level bills in arrears, meaning you're billed for usage after the fact. If you cancel mid-cycle, you may still receive a final invoice for devices used up to your cancellation date.

Adding a Payment Method

Click Upgrade now in the bottom-left sidebar, or navigate to Settings β†’ Billing

To add a payment method:

  1. Click Upgrade now in the bottom-left sidebar, or navigate to Settings β†’ Billing.

  3. For card payments, fill in your card number, expiration date, CVC, cardholder name, and billing address.

  4. Optionally, check Save my information for faster checkout and enter a phone number to save your details via Stripe Link for future use.

  5. Click Save to attach the payment method to your organization.

ℹ️ NOTE: If you have a card previously saved with Stripe Link, it may appear as a quick-select option at the top of the form. You can use that to fill in your details automatically or enter a different card manually.

Updating Billing Information

The Billing Information section shows the name and email address associated with your subscription. These are used for invoices and billing correspondence.

To update them, click Update information and edit the fields in the Stripe form that appears.

Invoice History

The Invoice History section lists all past invoices. Each row shows the date, amount charged, payment status, and a line item description.

Click any invoice row to open that invoice in a new tab. From there you can:

  • Click Download invoice for a PDF of the invoice.

  • Click Download receipt for a PDF payment receipt.

FAQ

  • How does Level's pricing work? Level's free account covers up to 10 devices. Once you exceed that, billing kicks in at $2 per device per month β€” 11 devices is $22/month, 12 is $24/month, and so on. If you remove devices and drop back to 10 or under, your account returns to the free tier automatically.

  • I installed the agent on a new device but it's not showing up. What's wrong? You've likely hit the 10-device free limit. Devices installed past that limit are held in a pending state and won't appear in Level until you add a payment method. Once billing is configured, they'll show up automatically.

  • What happens if I cancel my subscription? You can cancel at any time using the Cancel subscription button in the billing portal. Because Level bills in arrears, you may still receive one final invoice for any devices used up to your cancellation date.

  • Where do I find past invoices? In the Invoice History section of the billing portal. Click any invoice row to open it in a new tab, where you can download the invoice or receipt as a PDF.

  • Who can access the Billing page? Only organization administrators can access billing settings. If Billing isn't accessible to you under Settings, you don't have administrator access on this organization.

  • Can I use Google Pay or a bank account instead of a credit card? Yes. The Stripe payment form supports card, Google Pay, and bank account (ACH) as payment options.
