Introduction
Your Level account password and two-factor authentication (2FA) settings live here. This article covers how to change your password and how to enable, manage, or disable 2FA on your own account.
Changing Your Password
Navigate to Settings β Password / 2FA.
Enter your current password in the Current password field.
Enter your new password in the New password field. Passwords must be at least 8 characters.
Re-enter it in the Confirm new password field.
Click Update password.
π‘ TIP: If you've forgotten your current password, log out and use the "Forgot password" flow on the sign-in page. You can't change your password from here without knowing the current one.
β οΈ WARNING: There's no confirmation prompt after clicking Update password. The change takes effect immediately.
βΉοΈ NOTE: To update your name, email address, or profile photo, go to Settings β Account instead.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication adds a second verification step at sign-in β a time-based code from your authenticator app on top of your password. Enabling it significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized account access.
Enabling 2FA
When 2FA is off, the section shows a "2FA disabled" status and an Enable 2FA button.
Click Enable 2FA.
In the Confirm your password to continue modal, enter your current account password and click Confirm Password.
In the Enable two-factor authentication modal, scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If your app doesn't support QR scanning, copy the Private key (Manual code) and enter it manually instead.
Enter the 6-digit code your authenticator app generates in the Enter the 6 digit code from your authenticator app field.
Click Enable 2FA.
On the Save your recovery codes screen, save your codes using Download or Copy before proceeding.
Click Finish setup.
β οΈ WARNING: Recovery codes are shown once, during setup. Each code can only be used once. If you lose them and lose access to your authenticator app, you'll be locked out of your account. Store them in a password manager.
When 2FA Is Enabled
Once enabled, the section shows a green "2FA enabled" badge and two options:
Generate new (next to "Lost your recovery codes?") β generates a fresh set of recovery codes. Old codes are immediately invalidated.
Disable 2FA β turns off 2FA for your account (requires your password).
Regenerating Recovery Codes
If you've lost your recovery codes but still have access to your account, click Generate new next to "Lost your recovery codes?"
β οΈ WARNING: Generating new recovery codes immediately invalidates your old ones. Any previously saved codes stop working the moment you regenerate.
Disabling 2FA
Click Disable 2FA.
Enter your current password in the confirmation modal and confirm.
βΉοΈ NOTE: If your organization requires 2FA for all technicians, you won't be able to disable it here. That policy is controlled by an admin under Settings β Security. Contact your Level admin if you need an exception.
FAQ
How do I set up 2FA if I don't have an authenticator app? You'll need one before you can enable 2FA on your account. Any TOTP-compatible app works β Google Authenticator, Authy, and 1Password are common options. Install one on your phone, then come back here to scan the QR code during setup.
I lost my recovery codes. What do I do? If you still have access to your account, go to Settings β Password / 2FA and click Generate new next to "Lost your recovery codes?" That'll give you a fresh set. If you're locked out entirely, contact your Level Admin. If you are the Admin Contact Level Support.
I can't disable 2FA. Your organization has likely enabled mandatory 2FA via Settings β Security. When that policy is on, individual technicians can't opt out. Talk to your Level admin.
Who can change my password or disable my 2FA? Only you, from this page. These settings apply to your individual account. Admins can disable 2FA for other team members via Workspace β Team, but can't change passwords on your behalf.
My authenticator app is generating codes but they're not working at sign-in. This is almost always a time-sync issue. TOTP codes are time-sensitive β if your device clock is off by more than 30 seconds, codes will fail. Check that your phone's time is set to sync automatically.
How do I update my email address? Email changes are handled in Settings β Account, not here.
