Video Walkthrough

Accessing the terminal

To access the terminal of a device there are two methods.

  1. On the device details page, select the Manage section, and choose Terminal.

  2. Start a remote desktop session, and in the right command bar, select the Terminal icon.

An even faster way to the terminal is via the OS icon shortcut. Right click on the OS icon and choose Terminal.

Using the terminal

The Level terminal provides similar keyboard functionality as the native device terminal.

  • Tab for auto-complete

  • Up and down arrows for scrolling through previous commands

  • Cursor navigation via Home, End, Ctrl-Arrows, etc

  • Shift-arrow will select text. Ctrl-c, Command-c copies text.

  • Pasting must be done with a modifier key. Ctrl-Shift-v, Command-Shift-v will paste.

  • Mouse operations such as selecting, and right-click for copy and pasting

Terminal themes allow techs to personalize their color scheme. To change the theme, select one from the dropdown on the right above the terminal window.

File explorer

Upload and download files to and from a device remotely

Learn how to upload and download files of any size to your endpoints. The File Explorer allows you to browse the files and folders of a device without disrupting the end user.

Video Walkthrough

Accessing the file explorer

To remotely access the files of a device, there are two options to access the File Explorer.

  1. On the device details page, select the Manage section, and choose File Explorer.

  2. Start a remote desktop session, and in the right command bar, select the File Explorer icon.

Upon entering the file explorer, the available drives will be presented. Double-click in order to navigate through folders. To download a file, double-click it and it will be downloaded via your browser. In order to upload a file, drag a file from your local machine into the file explorer area of the window.

Across the top of the file explorer are "breadcrumbs" to show the complete folder path. Any folder in the path can be clicked on to go back to that point in the path.

Currently Level does not support creating, deleting, and renaming files and directories.

Services

Start, stop, and restart services running on your devices

Control services from behind-the-scenes using the services manager. Start, stop, and restart services, and change service startup types as needed.

Video Walkthrough

Accessing services

To view the services on a device, there are two options to access the Services feature.

  1. On the device details page, select the Manage section, and choose Services.

  2. Or start a remote desktop session, and in the right command bar, select the Services icon.

Level's service page has multi-select, search, and each column is sortable. Services can be started, stopped and restarted. Also the startup type can be changed to Disabled, Manual, Automatic, and Delayed Start.

The experience is the same for Windows, Mac and Linux!

Processes

View and manage processes running on your devices

Keep an eye on active processes on your endpoints. Monitor resource usage with up-to-date data and end processes remotely as needed.

Video Walkthrough

Accessing processes

To view the processes running on a device, there are two options to access the Processes feature.

  1. On the device details page, select the Manage section, and choose Processes.

  2. Start a remote desktop session, and in the right command bar, select the Processes icon.

The processes page should look very familiar if you have used the Windows task manager, but there are a few bonus benefits! Level has multi-select and search -- take that Windows Task Manager! Each column is sortable which will help in tracking down resource-hungry processes. If you need to kill a process, just select as many processes as needed and choose End Process, or right click a single process and choose End Process.
