Group Permissions

View which technicians have access to a device group and its devices.

Updated this week

Introduction

The Permissions tab shows which technicians can access this group, its subgroups, and all devices within them. It's a read-only view scoped to this group — to adjust roles or permissions, use Workspace → Permissions.

Viewing Permissions

Navigate to a group's settings (Devices → [group name] → Permissions).

The table shows every technician with access to this group:

  • Name — the technician's display name and email

  • Title — the technician's title, if set on their account

  • Role — the role assigned to this technician (e.g., Administrator, Senior Tech, Tech)

Viewing Group Permissions

Use the Search users field to find a specific technician by name or email.

Managing Permissions

This tab is read-only. To change who has access to this group or adjust a technician's role:

  1. Follow the Permissions link in the description text on this tab, or navigate directly to Workspace → Permissions.

  2. Make the necessary changes there.

For a full explanation of how roles, group-level permissions, and access control work in Level, see Workspace → Permissions.

ℹ️ NOTE: Technicians only see devices in groups they've been granted access to. If a technician can't see devices in this group, their access hasn't been configured. Add them in Workspace → Permissions.

FAQ

  • A technician isn't listed here but needs access to this group. How do I add them? Go to Workspace → Permissions and grant them access to this group. Once added, they'll appear on this tab.

  • I see a technician listed here but they say they can't see the devices. Why? Having access to a group doesn't override device-level restrictions or other role limitations. Check their role and any specific device permissions in Workspace → Permissions.

  • Can I remove a technician's access from this tab? No — this tab is read-only. All permission changes are made in Workspace → Permissions.
