Introduction
Level bills based on actual usage with no contracts or hidden fees. This article covers how the billing cycle works, what payment methods are available, and what to expect at cancellation.
How does Level billing work?
Your first 10 endpoints are free with no time limit.
Once you exceed 10, Level bills in arrears at $2 USD per device per month — your invoice is generated at the end of each billing cycle and reflects usage from the previous month. You're charged for what you actually used, not an estimated or flat amount.

Can I get invoices instead of automatic card charges?
Yes. Level can switch your account to invoice mode, which generates an invoice at the end of your billing cycle rather than charging your card automatically. You'll have 15 days to pay via your preferred method.
ℹ️ NOTE: Invoice mode is only available for accounts with a monthly spend of $500 or more.
How is my bill calculated?
Level samples your active device count multiple times each day and bills based on the highest count recorded during the month — not an average, and not the count at month-end.
So if you had 500 devices enrolled for most of the month, peaked at 600 mid-month during a client onboarding, then ended at 480, you're billed for 600.
ℹ️ NOTE: This matters most during transitions — onboarding new clients, migrating devices, or running a batch enrollment. A temporary spike still counts as your billing ceiling for that cycle.
This also applies to the free tier. Your first 10 endpoints are free, but if you exceed 10 at any point during the month, the ceiling billing rate applies to your full peak count for that cycle. See Level Pricing & Bulk Discounts for how the free tier and per-device rate work together.
What counts as a device? Any device visible in your Level dashboard — including devices that are offline or in maintenance mode. To stop a device counting toward your bill, delete it from Level. Powering it off or putting it in maintenance mode isn't enough.
What happens when I cancel?
Because Level bills in arrears, canceling mid-cycle doesn't zero out your final bill. You'll receive one last charge at the end of the current billing cycle for usage during that month.
For the full cancellation process, see How to Cancel Your Level Subscription.
